Turkmenistan — Ashgabat Government Blocks (handmade bias, but machine commercial wins back-of-house)

Procurement note: marble-white city, white-glove front-of-house, pragmatic BOH

Ashgabat’s façade is hand-laid marble and wool carpet. But ministries’ back corridors, archive floors, IT wings, and new university admin blocks are quietly specified with machine resilient goods because handmade wool fails chair-castor and fire-retardant specs.

Spec

  • Front ministry reception (where guests see): Tefloor LVT 3.0 mm registered-emboss marble, 0.5 mm wear, perimeter glued, beveled — reads as stone, passes Bfl-s1.
  • Open plan / archive: SPC 5.5 mm 0.5 mm click over old tile, no demolition (Ashgabat retrofit screeds are uneven).
  • Staff canteen / print room: PVC sheet 2.5 mm R10.
  • Honor-corridor (rarely): carpet tile nylon 500×500 in ivory/grey, replace wool patch cost by 70%.

Buyer watch: Turkmen import is state-agent mediated; ask Tefloor for neutral carton, no loud brand, separate EN/RU/UZ decl. packet — political procurement dislikes consumer branding onsite.
